WappGPT – AI Assistant on WhatsApp

Overview

As the founder, I launched WappGPT to redefine user interaction with AI by integrating advanced language models directly into WhatsApp—the most widely used communication channel globally. WappGPT transcends traditional chatbots, offering a conversational assistant experience with context-aware assistance, long-term memory, and multimodal capabilities for tasks ranging from brainstorming and translation to workflow automation.

The Challenge

Traditional AI solutions required users to adopt new applications or navigate complex web portals, hindering widespread adoption. The goal was to provide immediate, on-demand AI assistance within the platform users already trust and use daily, ensuring enterprise-grade reliability and performance at scale.

The Solution

Architected an event-driven backend leveraging Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for container orchestration, Azure Service Bus with queues and topics for asynchronous messaging, and OpenAI's GPT-4 for natural language understanding. State management is handled through managed cloud storage solutions, ensuring scalability and reliability. Messaging and delivery are facilitated via the WhatsApp Business API, providing a compliant and seamless user experience.
